Just LOOK at that awesome skirt I got at Savers today. ($6)
Plus 4 wooden bowls for mixing paint and a candle. ($3.50)
Making your own candles is actually much easier than I expected it to be! I’ve been wanting to do it for a while, but just now tried it out. I always burn so many candles in my apartment, and hate throwing away the last little bit once the candle’s done. So now I can start cutting up old candles and melting them all into recycled candles.
It’s really easy. Here are a few eco-friendly tutorials I used for inspiration:
If you don’t have old candle holders to recycle, you can always find candle containers for super cheap at Dollar Stores or craft stores. Thrift stores and antique stores usually always carry plenty of tea cups, coffee cups, or mason jars that make great recycled candle holders, too! :o)
I took a break after class and walked a few blocks to the thrift store. I got two purses, a candle, an incense/wax burner, a picture frame with pressed flowers in it, a cork memo board that I can paint, a floral printed drawer organizer, and an awesome pair of Keds for $8.10. I’d say that was a pretty successful trip! :o)
Since I’ve moved into my new apartment, I’ve realized just exactly how much I have that I don’t need anymore. I’ll be moving out of state for graduate school next summer, so I need to get a move on if I’m going to get rid of the ridiculous amount of clothes/shoes/accessories/books/etc. that I have taking up space.
SO, from time to time, I’ll post some of my things I’m looking to part with and if any of you are interested in buying anything, or trading for something, send me a message, and we’ll figure something out! I’ll include prices with each photo, but like I said, I completely willing to trade if you have something cool in mind you think I might like! Also, these prices include shipping. So no extra charge to ship to your location if you’re in the US! If you have any questions or would like to see more pictures of an item, just let me know. : )
We can get by in this consumerist culture! Recycle. Reuse. My newly acquired vintage couch, chair, ottoman, and coffee table. All for $53! :o)
